Bat Preparation
At WHACK Sports, we understand that our customers are excited to use their new bat straight away. So, get your new bat knocked-in professionally and have it ready to play immediately.
All English Willow Bats require preparation (knocking-in and oiling) before it can be used against a hard cricket ball. All bats come pre-pressed from the factory. Pressing gives a degree of conditioning and compresses the bat by 4 to 5 mm before it is sent to retailers. However, bats still need more knocking for grains & fibres to compress & strengthen.
Knocking-in a bat is a very essential and vital process to ensure its longevity and get the best performance. Cricket Bats are expensive items and it is important to take good care of it. Knocking-in process reduces the chances of a crack in your bat by 80%. Therefore, it is highly recommended to knock in a bat before it is used. This process maximises performance of the bat.
Knocking-in process can be done by hand using a wooden mallet. Typically, this process requires about 18-20 hours of knocking. If not done right, this may affect the performance and the life of your bat.
To save the time and energy of our customers, WHACK Sports uses a fully automated machine to knock in the bats. The bat will be ready to use in 45 minutes.
Our knocking machine is designed with modern day technology with option to preset the desired number of knocks. It knocks in the bat thoroughly. The moving rollers ensure that it covers the toe, edges and the blade. We give 15,000 knocks to every new bat and no further knocking is required after that.
Knocking-in service is FREE for English Willow Bats purchased from WHACK Sports
Pre-owned bats can be knocked for a cost of $50. Once your bat has had the complete bat preparation service you should consider having an extratec fitted to get maintenance free use and longevity out of your bat.
If you live in Brisbane area we can knock-in your bat within an hour, or alternatively you can ship us your bat for a knocking-in turnaround time of 1 day. Please note return postage cost and delivery times may vary based on your delivery area.

Return & Warranty Policy Introduction
We strive to assist buyers with issues that may arise with products they purchase from WHACK Sports. However, all warranty claims will be treated on a case by case basis. Please contact WHACK Sports customer service for all warranty and exchange requests.
In an event that you require a warranty, repair or exchange, you will bear the responsibility for safely packaging your bat/gear for transport. WHACK Sports accepts no liability for any damage that may occur during transit.
Returns must be sent to our return address (please contact us
for this) and have your full name, invoice number and mobile phone number clearly indicated on the package. Please retain proof of purchase for all warranty, repair and exchange claims.
Warranty Terms
There is no certain time a cricket bat will last. Cricket bats are made from willow which is a natural material and it is repeatedly hit with a hard cricket ball. Deterioration and a small amount of cracking are normal & inevitable. This shouldn’t bother you and have any impact on the performance of the bat. WHACK Sports always recommend having an extratec fitted to get maintenance free use and longevity for your bat. Please check ourcontact us

It is highly recommended that you do not use your bat against a bowling machine. Consistent use against a bowling machine can severely damage the bat and will reduce the life. It is recommended that cheaper quality bat is bought and used for practice against bowling machines. Looking after your cricket bat and regular maintenance is imperative for extensive life. Please see below our warranty terms and conditions;
Subject to the terms and conditions set out below, WHACK Sports agree to repair or replace your gear in circumstances where it’s deemed to be manufacturer’s fault.
All cricket bats sold by us are subject to a discretionary 12-month from the date of purchase (including replacement bats), manufacturers’ warranty for any damage deemed not to be the fault of the purchaser. Depending on the nature of the warranty claim, at the manufacturers’ discretion, they may choose to repair or replace the item in question. For cricket bats, warranty is only applicable for blade and handle (toe, edges and shoulders are not covered and can be broken by a wrong shot selection).
When the manufacturer has inspected the item and reached a conclusion concerning the warranty claim, the customer will be notified of the outcome - being either the item repaired, credited for replacement/exchange or the warranty claim being refused.
Please note that minor wear and tear and surface cracking to a bat does not constitute a warranty claim and is a common occurrence that does not affect the performance.
The warranty of bats purchased from WHACK Sports does not apply to:
bat on which manufacturer’s stickers/labels have been removed
damage to the toe and edges of the bat under any circumstance
damage caused by improper or extended use
damage due to excessive use of bowling machine
use of non-leather or composite balls including bowling machine balls
damage due to Yorkers
water/moisture or heat damage
damage due to inadequate bat preparation
damage due to over oiling
damage caused by accident, abuse, misuse such as, but not limited to hitting the bat on the ground/pitch while batting or running
damage caused by repairs attempted by a third party
damage caused by use of hard and cheap balls
bats with thread tied on the face of the bat
normal wear and tear or otherwise due to the normal ageing of the Product
A Bat will not be replaced due to handle break, edge or surface cracking but will be repaired under Warranty only in the first season of use.
Replacement of the product under the Standard Warranty does not extend or restart the Standard Warranty period.
Processing time for repairs/replacement will be up to 20 business days, however we will endeavour to have your item repaired or refunded as soon as possible.
When returning your item please ensure you can provide proof of delivery that the item has been received. We recommend sending it with Australia Post registered mail or a reliable courier service with Signature on Delivery. If you do not have proof of delivery and you will be unable to hold WHACK Sports liable for your loss.
You will not be able to dispute delivery with WHACK Sports unless you can provide proof of delivery via Registered mail or Signature on Delivery via Australia Post or Courier services.
Helmets – WHACK Sports doesn’t cover any damage caused by the impact of a cricket ball.
To the full extent permitted by law .
WHACK Sports’ aggregate liability in respect of all claims under the Standard Warranty and Extended Warranty shall not exceed the original purchase price of the Product or, at WHACK Sports’ option, replacement of the Product with a like or similar Product.
