New-Old-Stock Front Derailleur Cable Housing Stop
Thank you for your interest in this item and please visit our store for other
offerings. We have very reasonable shipping terms and combine orders to save
money (for customers) on shipping costs. We also maintain customer friendly
return/refund/exchange policies.
Product Description: This offering is for one of those small chromoly steel parts that is sometimes needed with older frames that require front derailleur cable routing to track along the top of the bottom bracket shell. More specifically, the front derailleur cable tracks along the down tube (like normal), but instead of bare cable running underneath the bottom bracket shell, cable/housing is routed along the top (non drive-side) of the bottom bracket shell with the help of clamp-on and/or braze-on cable/housing stops and guides. Once the cable/housing is re-directed upward from the bottom bracket shell (to the front derailleur), the cable/housing will seat in the large hole (second picture to the left) of this small part, with the cable passing out through the smaller hole (third picture to the left) on the other side.
Please note I have also included a fourth picture in this listing that shows a front derailleur with the moutning bracket needed to accomodate this small part. The narrow section of this part (as illustrated best in the first picture to the left) will slide into this mounting bracket area on the front derailleur and is then held in place by the upward pressure applied by the cable housing that will want to follow the cable through the small hole (third picture) of the part. It's really a very simple design, but it's still taken us years to finally acquire some of these small parts.
Some of the detailed specs concerning this part include an overall length of 14 mm, a large hole diameter (for cable housing) of 6 mm and a "small diameter section" (where the small part slides into a mounting bracket on the backside of a front derailleur) that measures about 4 mm in length. Please also note that not all front derailleurs will have the mounting bracket needed to accept this small part. In fact, I doubt any front derailleurs made after 1990 would include this bracket. My best guess is these brackets were phased out of the front derailleur design in the mid to late 80's.
As briefly noted above, we were finally able to acquire a small box of these specialty parts and while it is hard for us to tell whether some were ever used, they all appear functionally sound (with detailed specs just as described above).

Note to international customers regarding shipping... We apologize to those that feel some of our international shipping charges are too high. We only charge actual shipping rates, but once an order exceeds a certain amount, we hesitate to use the least expensive US Postal Services First Class International service. We feel this way, because this service is not trackable or insurable...so more risk of loss. We prefer the US Postal Services Priority Mail International service for more expensive orders, because this service is trackable at USPS.com and insurable...so less risk of loss. Unfortunately, this service is more expensive, especially for smaller/lighter packages, relative to the First Class International service. We are sorry about these higher shipping costs, but hopefully our notes help to explain why this is the case.
Note to international customers regarding customs... We also apologize to those that feel their country import taxes, duties and brokerage fees are excessive. As a small US business, we are required by customs' laws to declare each order as a retail sale. Additionally, the declared order value must be equal to total store purchases and/or winning auction bids (less any shipping costs, as these are not considered in the declared value). As a result, each customer will be responsible for paying his/her own country taxes, duties and brokerage fees, which will be collected upon delivery. Again, we apologize for these additional costs, but we cannot afford the penalties and fines that come with breaking customs' laws...so we have to strictly abide by them.
