This Cannondale Beast of the East is a vintage collectible. It is circa 1989
and the frame and fork are made in the USA aluminum. This Beast is a "mullet"
bike, the front wheel is 26" and the rear is a 24". Cannondale was way ahead of
the times and what was once old becomes new again! The Suntour drivetrain is
3x6 and the bike has lots of paint chips and scrapes but it is 100% rideable.
This bike is equipped with Suntour XCD 6000 rear derailleur, XCD front derailleur, Suntour Accushift thumb shifters, Avid Shorty 6 front brake, Dia-Compe Gran-Compe vintage rear brake, Dia-Compe vintage brake levers, Sakae stem, Suntour XC vintage seat binder, new Lizard Skins grips, Sansin front hub and original saddle. Please note: the Suntour XCD front derailleur cage is badly worn and shifting is not optimal. There is also a close-up photo of one of the top tube braze ons that has broken off (bike is rideable).
The effective top tube measures 23.6" and the seat tube (c-c) measures 18.5". With the mixed wheels, this bike has slightly weird geometry but should fit riders in the 5'9" to 6'1" range. This bike has been inspected and tuned and the entire bike has been checked over by two mechanics. After re-assembly by a qualified mechanic on the buyer's end, the bike should be ready to ride. Bike will be professionally packed with care.
